The 11th Famara Total is under way. One of the most anticipated fixtures on the Canarian trail running calendar held its official presentation on Thursday at La Caleta de Famara and begins tonight with the Vertical Nocturna, the night climb that opens the event each year.

The 2026 edition sets a participation record, with more than 1,200 entries across the various distances. The programme runs over three days, combining competition and a festival atmosphere in one of the island's most recognisable landscapes.

The launch, hosted by official speaker Depa, was attended by Teguise mayor Olivia Duque, sports councillor Alejandro Ramírez and island sports councillor Juan Monzón, along with several of the competing runners.

The terrain

The Risco de Famara is a wall of more than six hundred metres dropping almost vertically to the beach. The routes alternate sand, scree and paths exposed to the north-easterly wind — which is why Famara Total has a reputation well beyond the archipelago.
