Las Cucharas (Teguise): how to get there and today's wind
Costa Teguise's main beach: shallow water protected by reefs, and the wind that made it a windsurfing classic.
Las Cucharas is the main beach of Costa Teguise: pale sand and a wide bay closed off by rock barriers. Those barriers do the work, holding back the swell and leaving shallow, calm water inside — good with children.
Outside the shelter is what made this coast famous: the wind. Las Cucharas has been one of Lanzarote's windsurfing spots for decades, with schools and rentals right on the beach. The typical Costa Teguise day runs like this: calm morning, wind building after lunch.
Getting there
It is inside the resort, with the promenade, bars and shops alongside; parking in the surrounding streets. About fifteen minutes by car from Arrecife.
Good to know
For flat-water swimming, come in the morning. For a board, come after lunch. If you want an even more sheltered cove, the small Playa del Jablillo is a few minutes' walk away.
