Playa Dorada (Yaiza): how to get there and today's wind
Playa Blanca's family beach: golden sand, flat water and everything within walking distance. The easiest beach in the south.
Playa Dorada sits inside Playa Blanca, in the municipality of Yaiza, and it is the beach you choose when travelling with children or when you simply want no complications. It faces south towards Fuerteventura and is sheltered: the water is usually calm and the bottom shelves gently, with no surprises underfoot.
Few beaches here are as well equipped: sunbeds and parasols for hire, showers, toilets, bars and restaurants a few steps away, and the seafront promenade running to the old harbour one way and to Marina Rubicón the other. You arrive and stay put; the car can wait.
Getting there
Walk in from the Playa Blanca promenade; street parking nearby fills up by mid-morning in summer. About forty minutes by car from the airport.
Good to know
This is the beach for an easy swim, not for wildness: there are hotels and people. For the opposite, Papagayo is twenty minutes away. A breeze can pick up in the afternoon, but nothing like the north coast.
