La Recova in Arrecife, the market in the town hall courtyard

La Recova is Arrecife's historic market space, in the courtyard of the town hall between calle Manuel Miranda and calle de la Liebre. It stood closed for twenty years before reopening.
Today it holds a dozen stalls: island crafts, vegetables, souvenirs and a café.
When to go
Open Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm, right in the centre: it pairs well with a walk along calle Real and down to the Charco de San Ginés.
It is the place to buy something made on the island rather than the usual imported souvenir. In the hot months the courtyard stays shaded — one of the few cool stops downtown.
