Friday at the Charco: drinks with a DJ who has been spinning since 1985 — ten euros, drink and plate included

A trattoria two months old, on the Charco promenade, which for its first music night calls in someone who has been playing records since 1985. On Friday 9 October, from 18:30 to 21:30, Sotto Sopra in Arrecife hosts SOTTOSOPRA × DJ MAD.
What it costs and what is included
Ten euros. That covers one drink and a welcome plate. After that, as always, the kitchen stays open for dinner and the aperitivo counter is going.
In other words: this is not a club entry, it is a long aperitivo that can turn into dinner without leaving the table. Which is why you should book — the place is small and that is the hour the Charco fills up.
Who DJ MAD is
Daniele MAD is not a lad with a USB stick. He is «in the box since '85», in his own words: forty years behind the decks, and he lives on Lanzarote.
On the island he is best known as the resident of the Domingos del Marqués at the Palacio del Marqués in Teguise, where he often plays vinyl. Beyond that he has turned up at El Chupadero in La Geria and at carnival. By trade, when he is not behind the decks, he is promotion manager for the Molto Recordings label.
His ground is funk, listening house, reworks — among his own tracks there is even one called Lanzarote Slow Jam. This is not music for jumping: it is music for sitting comfortably, which is exactly what a 6.30pm aperitivo needs.
The place
Sotto Sopra — Italian trattoria and caffè — opened on 3 August 2026. So it is brand new: no TripAdvisor page yet, no reviews, not a line of press. It does breakfasts and coffee, dishes to share, lunch and dinner, and takeaway.
We have not been yet, and we say so: this is not a verdict on the food, it is notice of an evening.
Getting there
Sotto Sopra — Avenida César Manrique 51, Arrecife, at the Charco de San Ginés.
Friday 9 October, 18:30–21:30 · entry €10, including a drink and the welcome plate.
Tables are booked through Instagram, @sottosopra.lanzarote.
Normal opening hours: Tuesday and Wednesday 18:30–23:00; Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11:30–15:00 and 18:30–23:00; closed Sunday and Monday.
The Charco on a Friday evening is already where Arrecife meets. With a vinyl DJ at the water's edge, a little more so.
