Yaiza overhauls waste collection: five bids for a ten-year contract

Yaiza town hall has received five bids for its new waste collection service. The tender closed on Monday 10 August and the proposals are now under technical assessment.
The contract is estimated at around 36 million euros over ten years and covers organic waste, residual fraction, household cooking oil, bulky items, electrical appliances, garden cuttings and the installation of mobile recycling points.
What changes for residents
Councillor Óscar Noda sets out the aim: to extend and optimise collection with a far more efficient service, scaled to population growth.
Yaiza includes Playa Blanca, one of the island's fastest-growing settlements — and where the current service shows its limits most clearly, especially in high season.
