Caleta de Famara fiestas: parrandas and verbenas from 27 to 30 August

Caleta de Famara reaches the busiest stretch of its village fiestas with four consecutive days of music, running from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 August. The line-up mixes traditional parrandas with late-night dance verbenas, a long Saturday afternoon session and a daytime finale on Sunday.

Proceedings open on Thursday 27 at 21:30 with the Noche de Parrandas, featuring Pal Porron, Los Valles and Gurfines Son del Puerto. This is the evening closest to the original spirit of a Canarian village fiesta: string bands, familiar songs and an audience of all ages gathered around the stage.

Friday 28 brings the first big verbena of the weekend, from 23:30 until 04:00, with Grupo Bomba and Banda Nueva, both regulars on the Lanzarote fiesta circuit. On Saturday 29 the timing shifts considerably earlier: the verbena runs from 18:00 to midnight, with Leyenda Joven, La Resistencia and Mambo con Fuego, plus a set from DJ Chipi.

The closing event is the Verbena del Agua on Sunday 30 August from 14:00, with music by Banda Nueva. As the name suggests, water is part of the celebration, so wear clothes you do not mind getting soaked.

Practical notes for visitors

Famara is a compact village with narrow streets and very limited parking, and the area fills up quickly on verbena nights. If you are driving from Arrecife or the southern resorts, allow extra time and leave the car at the edge of the village, walking in from there. Saturday's early start and Sunday's daytime Verbena del Agua are the easiest options for families or anyone who would rather not drive home in the small hours. The trade wind eases after sunset but the breeze off the beach stays cool, so a light layer is useful even in August.
