Lanzarote Literature Festival: author talks from 8 October in Arrecife, Puerto del Carmen and Yaiza

The Lanzarote Literature Festival returns for its fourth edition, spread across October and November 2026 under the banner "Letras de rofe y sal". The programme mixes talks with Spanish and international authors, creative writing workshops and discussion sessions on contemporary literature.

Novelist Ray Loriga opens the season on 8 October at El Almacén in Arrecife. He is followed by Berna González-Harbour on 20 October, Juan Gómez Bárcena on 27 October and Argentine writer Pola Oloixarac on 5 November, the latter at the Centro Cívico El Fondeadero in Puerto del Carmen.

The run of author events closes at the Casa Benito Pérez Armas in Yaiza, with Laura Ferrero on 25 November and Manuel Vilas on 2 December. Spreading the dates over four venues takes the festival well beyond the capital.

Alongside the talks, the festival runs two workshops on reading and creative writing, led by Fernando Clemot and Laura Fernández on 14 and 21 October at the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz in Arrecife. A one-day set of literary conversations titled "Combustión insular. Conversaciones literarias en Teguise" takes place on 7 November. Full details are published at www.fdll.es.

Practical notes for visitors

Sessions are held in Spanish, which is worth knowing before booking an evening around one of them: the author talks are conversational and reward a reasonable grasp of the language, while the workshops assume it. Distances on Lanzarote are short — none of the venues is more than about half an hour from the main resort areas — but evening parking in central Arrecife and in Puerto del Carmen fills up quickly, so allow extra time. Workshop places are limited compared with the open talks, so check registration arrangements in advance if you want to take part rather than simply attend.
