Yaiza town hall reminds its athletes that 4 October is the deadline to file paperwork for its grants to individual athletes, intended to support preparation for official competition in the 2025 season.

How much, and for what

The fund totals €15,000, with a maximum of €3,000 per athlete. Eligible costs include federation licences, entry fees, insurance, coaches' wages, buying or repairing equipment, travel, medical services and physiotherapy. On an island, travel is usually the heaviest item: any serious competition means getting on a plane.

Who can apply

The scheme is for individual sports — athletics, swimming, tennis, weightlifting — but the rules also admit those competing in pairs or small teams: doubles tennis, padel, two-handed sailing, 3×3 basketball.

Mayor Óscar Noda and sports councillor Ángel Lago urge the municipality's athletes to file in time.

The council also points to its municipal sports schools, covering futsal, sailing, Canarian wrestling, tennis, gymnastics, skating, handball, martial arts, football, table tennis, basketball, badminton, skateboarding and adapted sports.
