Playa Blanca: 340,000 euros to fix up the Parque Atlántico, bids open until 23 October

The Parque Atlántico in Playa Blanca is one of those places people use every day and nobody discusses until it breaks: tennis courts, padel, an oval multi-sport pitch. Sun, salt and years have worn them down, and Yaiza town hall has just put the repair work out to tender, with an investment of close to 340,000 euros.

What gets renewed

• The two tennis courts: equipment and new fencing.
• The padel courts: gates with remote electronic locks, so no more collecting a key first.
• An enclosure to secure the electrical panel for the floodlights.
• The oval multi-sport pitch: new fencing and repairs to the playing surface.
• The installation of shaded areas, which in a Playa Blanca summer is not a detail.

Interested companies can consult the technical and administrative documents at www.yaiza.es and submit bids until Friday 23 October.

The other sports works

Public works and sport councillor Ángel Lago reports that work continues meanwhile on the extension of the San Marcial Rubicón sports centre, where multi-purpose courts for sand sports are being built (1.3 million), and in Uga on the multi-use court next to the school (952,000 euros), along with landscaping and the car park for the Canarian wrestling ring (1.3 million).
