The last day of five years of therapy, told through raves and afters: 'Vierdingo' on the 23rd at El Almacén

Iván faces the last day of a therapy that has lasted five years. The whole monologue sits inside that: across those hours he goes back through his memories, his experiences and above all his relationship with partying — the raves, the afters, the nights that do not end — to reconstruct the road he travelled to understand his own insecurities and make peace with himself.
It is called Vierdingo, written and performed by Esteban Garrido, and it plays at El Almacén in Arrecife on Friday 23 October at 8pm.
Why this is not the usual mental-health play
Two things keep it clear of rhetoric. The first is that it puts humour, feeling and electronic music together: it does not ask for pity, it tells a story. The second is that it argues for therapy as a tool — not as a sign that something is broken, but as an instrument for facing personal conflict. That is a position, and in theatre you can feel the difference between work that has one and work that does not.
