Marea Fest is born: four bands at the Arrecife Marina on 17 October, free entry

The island gains a date. The Cabildo presented the Arrecife Marea Fest on Monday, a live music festival making its debut on Saturday 17 October at Marina Lanzarote, with free entry.
What is known so far
• Four well-known bands, playing live.
• Different styles: the programme is deliberately built not to address a single audience.
• The full line-up is announced this week, on the festival's website and official channels.
Why the marina
The Cabildo's president, Oswaldo Betancort, says Marina Lanzarote 'has the conditions to host an event of this kind'. In plain terms: it is an open space in the middle of town with the services already in place and parking around it — things that matter as much as the line-up at a free concert.
The other line that explains the move is this: 'we want to keep a varied programme running all year, able to draw audiences and generate activity in different parts of the island'. That is an answer to a real Lanzarote problem: everything crammed into the summer and a hole in the months between.
Culture councillor Jesús Machín stressed the variety of the programme; Arrecife's youth councillor, Rosmen Quevedo, also attended the presentation.
