Two evenings, two architects, free entry. The Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Lanzarote closes Architecture Week 2026 with two talks at the Cine Buñuel, inside El Almacén in Arrecife.

Wednesday 7 October, 19:00 — Juan Palop

The urban planner Juan Palop gives «Landscape as infrastructure. Essays in arid territories». The title sounds theoretical; the subject is very concrete for anyone living here — treating landscape not as a postcard to be protected but as an active part of urban and ecological infrastructure. On an island where the water is desalinated, the wind erodes and the soil is ash, that is the difference between building against the terrain and building with it.

Friday 9 October, 19:00 — Óscar Miguel Ares

Óscar Miguel Ares brings «A certain way of doing things», on working with material, space and what already exists. That is: what you do with what is already there, rather than knocking it down.

The evening closes with a screening of Strange Goodbye, a short documentary gathering the prize-winning projects of the 17th Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism, thinking about architecture through memory, displacement and belonging.

Getting in

Both evenings are free with an invitation, collected in advance — and worth collecting, because the Cine Buñuel is not large.

Cine Buñuel, El Almacén, calle José Betancort 33, Arrecife. 19:00 on both evenings.
