Anyone who trains at the Yaiza municipal gym will have to skip four days next week: it closes from Tuesday 13 to Friday 16 October for maintenance and refitting.

It reopens on Monday the 19th. And it reopens better.

The new hours

This is the part that matters, and it is worth noting down:

  • Monday to Friday: 06:00 – 21:00
  • Saturday: 07:00 – 14:00

Opening at six in the morning changes things for anyone on hotel shifts who until now had to choose between training and sleeping.

And more classes

Along with the hours, the programme of instructor-led activities is being extended too. The sports councillor, Ángel Lago, points to exactly those two things as the purpose of the work.

The reason is straightforward, and the council says so plainly: more people are using the gym, and they are asking for more hours of weights, cardio and classes. The old timetable had stopped being enough.

In short

Closed: Tuesday 13, Wednesday 14, Thursday 15 and Friday 16 October.
Reopens: Monday 19 October, on the new timetable.
