Arrecife's 'La Línea y la Sombra' garden is back in order

The Biosphere Reserve office of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has carried out improvement work in the La Línea y la Sombra garden in Arrecife: new signage, native plant labelling and cleaning services.
The space grew out of an ideas competition to reclaim a derelict plot in the middle of the city.
What it was meant to be, and what it became
The aim was to turn an urban void into a public place that would renaturalise the city fabric, designed for staying and reflecting rather than passing through. The plant labelling serves exactly that: helping people who walk past every day recognise the island's own species.
