Frank T at La Lapa, Arrecife: a hip hop night on Friday 21 August from 9pm

On Friday 21 August, from 9pm, La Lapa in Arrecife gives the night over to hip hop and black music. On the decks is Frank T, one of the names Spanish hip hop grew up with.

For anyone who follows this music, Frank T is not just any guest: he was among the first to bring it to Spain and has remained a point of reference in the thirty years since. He brings a set built on classics, R&B, funk and groove.

La Lapa is at Plaza de las Palmas 4, inside the triangle between the Charco de San Ginés and calle Real: a tapas bar with a concrete counter and the bottles on show, not a concert hall. This is a night for listening on your feet, glass in hand.

Worth knowing first

It starts at 9pm and the room is small: if you want to be near the front, come early. Plaza de las Palmas is in the middle of Arrecife, a short walk from the Charco, and parking nearby is awkward — on a Friday night you will get there faster on foot.
