Free film screening in Arrecife on 27 August: Cine Juventud Lanzarote continues

The Cine Juventud Lanzarote series continues through August with a screening on Thursday 27 August at 7pm in screen 4 of the Multicines Atlantida in Arrecife. The film is En un muelle de Normandia, by French director Emmanuel Carrere.

The story looks at one of the harshest sides of contemporary society: job insecurity, the invisibility of working-class lives and the absence of social empathy. That choice matches the purpose of the series, which treats the cinema as a place for encounter and reflection on identity, personal development and family and social relationships, with dialogue and active participation by young people as its aim.

Entry is free until the room is full, and seats can be booked from Monday 24 August through the series website, www.cinejuventudlanzarote.es. Anyone turning up without a reservation depends on whatever seats are left.

For visitors, it is a chance to see how the island programmes culture outside the resort circuit: a single title, a social theme and a young local audience, in the capital rather than in the tourist areas.
