Noches de Vibrato at La Recova, Arrecife: comedy and music on 28 August

On Friday 28 August the courtyard of La Recova, in the old centre of Arrecife, hosts the second show of the 2026 Noches de Vibrato season, a format that pairs stand-up comedy with live music. The line-up brings together comedian Santi Rodriguez, a familiar face from Spanish television series and shows and still known by the nickname El Frutero, and singer-songwriter Paula Mattheus. Entry is free.

The series is run directly by the Events Department of the Ayuntamiento de Arrecife, headed by councillor Oscar Lopez, who presented the guest artists at La Recova alongside mayor Yonathan de Leon Machin. The 2026 programme opened in May with Michael Foster and Jordi Merca, and last year every single show sold out.

This second date has a deliberately summery tone, with laughter as the main ingredient and a songwriter's set as counterweight. The enclosed courtyard works as a natural auditorium, which is one reason the council has kept returning to it for cultural, musical and food-related events.

The mayor noted that La Recova has been rediscovered during this term of office as a venue suited to its own history and scale, and that the building will soon reopen as a Mercado de Abastos with a dining area. Other events are also staged there periodically through the Commerce and Tourism Department, part of a wider push in a historic centre that is seeing new shops and restaurants open.

Practical notes for visitors

La Recova sits in the old town, a short walk from the Charco de San Gines lagoon and Calle Real. Driving in, the easiest option is to park near the port or on the nearby avenues and walk the last stretch, as much of the area is pedestrianised. Because the show is free and unticketed, arriving early is the sensible approach: capacity is limited and last year's editions filled up. Note that the comedy is performed in Spanish, so the musical half will travel further for non-Spanish speakers. Bars and restaurants around the Charco stay open late, which makes the evening easy to extend either side of the show.
