Four Lanzarote students reach El Talenton Canarias final on 12 September

A team of four young people from Lanzarote has reached the final of El Talenton Junior Canarias 2026 with a project called Islas Infinitas. The team is made up of Paola D'Agostino Gonzalez, Alessandra Martinez, Pia Benitez and Berta Candeal.

Islas Infinitas is a platform designed to promote sustainable tourism across the Canaries, built around two elements. The first is a certification scheme that works as a quality mark for tourism businesses. The second is an app intended to spread tourist activity more evenly across the territory and give greater visibility to local shops and small traders. The stated aim is to improve the islands' economy and social fabric.

El Talenton Junior Canarias is an initiative set up to encourage young entrepreneurship and to keep young talent within the archipelago, a persistent issue in an island context where higher education and first job opportunities often mean leaving.

The winning team on each island receives 1,500 euros to develop its Minimum Viable Product and moves on to the regional final, where the prize is a training and innovation trip to China. The regional final takes place on 12 September 2026 in Santa Cruz de La Palma.

The outcome is not decided by the jury alone: the public vote accounts for 30% of the final score. Voting is open on the competition platform, votaeltalenton.com, on each project's page, until the day of the final.

Why spreading visitors matters on Lanzarote

The proposal to move visitors beyond the busiest spots touches a familiar issue here. Tourism concentrates in a handful of coastal areas and a limited number of sites, while inland villages and small independent businesses sit outside those flows. For travellers, the practical version of the same idea is straightforward: an afternoon in Haria, Teguise or Femes usually costs nothing more than the drive and changes the shape of a trip considerably.
