Craft fair workshops: booking opens on Monday for Mancha Blanca

Booking for the craft workshops at the 37th Feria de Artesanía opens on Monday 7 September at 9am. Places are reserved through the Cabildo website and, since numbers are limited, they go strictly in order of application.

The workshops are part of the fair's programme, held from 10 to 15 September in Mancha Blanca, in the municipality of Tinajo. It is the occasion when the island's craftwork is taught as well as displayed: not just stalls to look at, but hands at work and someone explaining how it is done.

The Cabildo stresses the value of this teaching strand: traditional Canarian trades are passed on by watching and trying, and without anyone to teach them they disappear. Hence the decision to put the courses inside the fair rather than alongside it.

How to book

Reservations open on Monday 7 September at 9am on the official Cabildo de Lanzarote website. Anyone with a particular workshop in mind should log on early: order of application is the only criterion, and in past years places went quickly.
