Folk music from all eight islands at Mancha Blanca: Nanino Díaz Cutillas Festival on Friday 11

On Friday 11 September the Nanino Díaz Cutillas Festival returns to Mancha Blanca, one of the major events of the Fiestas de Los Dolores. This is the thirty-sixth edition and it lines up groups and soloists from all eight islands: a tour of Canarian musical heritage performed live rather than described.

It takes place on the esplanade beside the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores — the point around which the whole festival turns. It is organised by the Culture Department of the Cabildo de Lanzarote y La Graciosa.

Many of the groups on stage on Friday night are the same ones parading the next day in the Romería Popular: go to both and you meet them twice, first still in front of a microphone, then walking with the carts.

Friday 11 September, the Ermita esplanade in Mancha Blanca. Free entry, running about two hours. It is the eve of the pilgrimage: the village is already full, so arrive early.
