Playa Blanca to get beach-sport courts: 2,500 square metres and €1.3 million

A 2,500 square metre area with soft-surface courts for beach sports — volleyball, football and handball — is being built in Playa Blanca. It is an extension of the San Marcial del Rubicón sports centre, near Las Coloradas.

The investment is €1.3 million from Yaiza council, on a project co-funded with the Cabildo de Lanzarote. Work is already under way.

The scheme is conceived as an open, accessible space for recreation and physical activity rather than a facility for clubs only. That is the difference between a pitch used two evenings a week and a village space that stays open.
