Claudie Hüppe at Haría's Sala El Aljibe: lava and tides turned into painting

The Sala El Aljibe in Haría hosts Earth, Fire, Wind, Water. The Language of Nature by Claudie Hüppe from 12 September to 3 October. The work turns on earth, fire and water: the forms and materials found in the natural world, looked at from an artistic point of view.

Hüppe has had a close bond with Lanzarote for years, and it shows. The island's singular volcanic and maritime setting has shaped her visual world: lava, tides and the contrasts of the terrain pass into her work, and the landscape takes on a physical, almost tactile dimension.

Her method is experiment. She combines painting, photography and design, and into her abstract compositions she introduces elements that bring texture and depth: from there comes the dialogue between matter and the forces that reshape the environment. These are works that ask you to stop at details, colours and structures rather than walk past them.

The show also marks the artist's return to Haría, where she showed part of her work in 2025.

Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 1pm, until 3 October. The Sala El Aljibe is in the centre of Haría, the village of a thousand palms, in the north of the island.
