A Venezuelan violin at midday: Alexis Cárdenas today at Arrecife's Casa de la Cultura

Festival Noon Canarias has a simple idea: put a good concert on at midday on a Saturday, free, in the centre of Arrecife. Today, Saturday 26 September at noon, at the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, it is the turn of Venezuelan violinist Alexis Cárdenas, the only international guest of this edition.

The programme

It is called Popular y Tradicional and does exactly what it says: it holds the European classical repertoire and Latin American popular music in the same hand, with improvisation and jazz moving in and out. Cárdenas has a long career outside Venezuela and a bow that goes from chamber music to Caribbean rhythm without changing posture.

Practical details

Free entry while seats last. The main hall of the Casa de la Cultura sounds good, but the seats run out: come early. Culture councillor Abigail González is behind the series, with the aim of making Saturday middays a fixture in the city.
