'Proyecto Fausto' in Tías tonight: the true story of the boat that vanished twice

In 1968 a small fishing boat disappeared between El Hierro and La Palma. Three fishermen and one passenger were on board. The islands mounted the biggest air and sea search they had ever seen, and found nothing. Then the boat turned up again, by chance, twice. And twice it vanished once more on the open sea.

That story, still told in the Canaries, has become Proyecto Fausto: written by Antonio Tabares, directed by Germán Barrios, produced by Compañía Regañiza. It plays tonight, Saturday 26 September, at 8pm, at the Teatro Municipal in Tías.

What you get

A cast of nine actors and live music by Marta Curbelo, which does not sit underneath the play — it builds the sea. Tabares is one of the strongest working Canarian playwrights and he does not go for the easy whodunit: the piece is more about how an island lives alongside a disappearance than about solving it.

Practical details

Free entry, first come first served, until the house is full. Arrive early: the Tías theatre is not large and this is the weekend's ticket.
