'Clowneando' this morning in Valterra: free children's theatre, round the corner

The project is called Teatro Sabatea en Valterra and it starts from an obvious point that almost nobody acts on: if the children's show is in the centre, plenty of families simply do not go. Put it in the neighbourhood and everything changes.

This morning, Saturday 26 September at 11.30am, the Centro Sociocultural de Valterra hosts Clowneando, by the company Arturs Teatro Vida. Entry is free.

Why clowning works on children

Because it breaks the wall. The clown talks to the audience, makes them answer, gets things wrong on purpose — and a five-year-old stays glued to the stage for forty minutes without being asked. It is the first theatre that always works, and it is no accident that it is also the oldest.

Practical details

Doors open a few minutes beforehand. No booking, but there are only so many seats: be on time. Arrecife's culture councillor, Abigail González, backs the series to bring the performing arts to the outer neighbourhoods, where usually nothing arrives at all.
