189 kilometres by bike through all seven municipalities: the Vuelta returns this weekend, and Yaiza closes roads

The Vuelta Ciclista a Lanzarote returns for its third edition on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October. It is not a race: it is a non-competitive ride covering 189 kilometres over two days, crossing all seven municipalities of the island, through volcanic and coastal landscapes. It is organised by Club La Santa with institutional backing.

Road closures in Yaiza

Yaiza town hall has published the route maps and the times of the affected roads. Within the municipality, closures fall on Sunday 4 October, in two windows:

• 11am to 2pm
• midday to 2pm

The council asks drivers for maximum caution and to respect the temporary signage: at those hours, on those roads, there are cyclists.

If you need to travel

Sunday morning is when half the island heads for the beach or out to lunch. If your route goes through the south, allow an extra half hour, or set off before eleven. Detailed route maps and times are published by Yaiza town hall.
