Four saxophones at midday: the Cuarteto Improntu at the Casa de la Cultura today, free entry

Festival Noon keeps doing the thing it does best: a good concert at midday on a Saturday, free, in the centre of Arrecife. Today, Saturday 3 October at noon, at the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, it is the turn of the Cuarteto Improntu.
The programme
It is called El sonido del saxofón, and it does exactly what it says: a journey across styles held together by one instrument. There are classical arrangements and romantic pieces, contemporary music, film scores and some ragtime. It is the kind of programme that works even on people who never go to concerts, because they recognise something at every turn.
Who is playing
They come from Tenerife, four different saxophones covering every voice between them:
• Goyo Hernández — soprano saxophone
• Raúl González — alto
• Yurena Alonso — tenor
• Benigno Cedrés — baritone
Practical details
Free entry. The series is backed by the culture department of Arrecife council, which has spent months trying to make Saturday middays a fixture in the city — and, judging by how often the hall fills, it is working. Come early.
