A documentary on César Manrique's six hours in New York, 4 September at Jameos

The Auditorium at Jameos del Agua hosts the premiere of the short documentary Las horas ciegas by Concha de Ganzo on 4 September at 20:00. Entry is free with online booking.
The 24-minute film recovers a private episode from the life of César Manrique. After suffering a detached retina on a trip through the Caribbean, the artist spent a six-hour stopover in New York before returning to Spain for surgery. At the airport he was met by his nephew, Eduardo Manrique.
The film works on that suspended moment: the vulnerability of a man who stood to lose his sight, told far from the works that made him famous.
The venue is not incidental
Screening a film about the fear of going blind inside Jameos del Agua — a hall Manrique carved from a volcanic tube, playing with light and darkness as nowhere else — adds a layer to the documentary. Book early: the Auditorium seats few.
