Teguise opens Plan Cultural course sign-ups from 7 to 21 September

The Ayuntamiento de Teguise opens registration for its 2026/2027 Plan Cultural on 7 September at 9:00. The programme spreads workshops and training activities across several villages of the municipality for nine months, starting on 5 October 2026 and running until 25 June 2027.

The list mixes artistic disciplines with crafts tied to the cultural heritage of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands: calado openwork embroidery, ceramics, roseta lacework, dance, sewing, cutting and dressmaking, folk music and dance, empleita palm weaving, painting, ballet, theatre, handicrafts, sign language and the making of traditional costumes.

The window stays open from 9:00 on 7 September until 00:00 on 21 September. Places are allocated in strict order of application, and each person may sign up for a minimum of one course and a maximum of three. Registration is free and can be completed through the municipal website or in person at the Casa de la Cultura de Teguise.

Because places go in order of application rather than by draw, the most popular workshops tend to fill within the first hours. Having your details ready and applying on the morning of 7 September makes a practical difference. The three-course cap means prioritising, particularly for households enrolling more than one person. The crafts on offer — calado, roseta, empleita — are among the traditional skills that survive mainly through this kind of municipal teaching, and they are taught in Spanish, which is worth factoring in for newer residents.
