Twenty-five years of migration on show in Arrecife: OBITen until 17 September

The Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz in Arrecife is hosting OBITen, an exhibition covering twenty-five years of migration in the Canaries. It runs until Tuesday 17 September: only a few days left.

What is on show

Photographs and documentary material trace the work of the Tenerife Immigration Observatory from its founding in 2001 to the present. This is not an exhibition about one summer's emergency: it is the quarter-century in which the Canaries changed — in the make-up of their population, in their towns, in their classrooms — seen through the people who measured that change year by year.

Deputy mayor Echedey Eugenio stressed "the importance of creating spaces for knowledge and reflection on migration", calling it a stroke of luck for the city to host twenty-five years of research. The show forms part of the III Encuentro Estatal de Migraciones (Migradmi) and is promoted by the Cabildo of Tenerife, with Arrecife's social welfare and culture departments.
