Second-hand market in Playa Honda on Saturday 26: 'El canto del Jable', outside Da Musso

The things we no longer use are not rubbish: they are objects waiting for somebody else. That is the idea behind 'El canto del Jable', the second-hand market held on Saturday 26 September from 10am to 2pm in Playa Honda, outside the Da Musso restaurant, on calle Princesa Ico at the corner of Avenida de Playa Honda.

What you will find

Clothes, books, decorative objects and more, all second-hand and at token prices. The point is not to make money: it is to put back into circulation things that have already had a life. The organisers sum it up in three words: reuse, share, give life.

Good to know

Payment in cash or by Bizum. Entry is free, and the stalls are set up inside and outside the restaurant: four morning hours, when Playa Honda is already up and about and the heat has not yet bitten.

It is the kind of event that makes particular sense on Lanzarote, for a practical reason: on an island, throwing things away costs money to ship out, and buying new means shipping in. A second-hand market here adds up more than it does anywhere else.
