Fifteen thousand people for burgers: the Burger Fest fills Playa Honda's park

More than fifteen thousand people passed through the Parque Urbano in Playa Honda on Friday and Saturday for the first Burger Fest Canarias on Lanzarote. For a brand-new event held inside the village fiestas, that is a telling number.

Fifteen outlets took part, from Lanzarote and other islands, all devoted to burgers. Around them, music and activities: the festival was part of the Playa Honda 2026 fiestas and was organised by San Bartolomé town hall, between its festivities and commerce departments.

The mayor

"The idea was to bring this part of the municipality to life during the fiestas, and it exceeded every expectation," said Isidro Pérez, mayor of San Bartolomé, who pointed to the Parque Urbano as the right space: it made movement easy and allowed the stalls and open areas to be laid out properly. "It has been one of the best decisions of this term," he added, thanking those who worked on security, cleaning and setting up.

The lesson for the island is simple: a well-run food fair brings more people into a town than a concert does, and gets them spending in local businesses.
