Tina Turner and Miguel Ríos on Saturday night at Las Cucharas beach, free

On Saturday, Costa Teguise marks World Tourism Day the right way: two free concerts by the sea. The show is called La música de tu vida and takes place on Saturday 26 September at 8pm at the Las Cucharas amphitheatre.

Who is playing

The Queen of Rock run through Tina Turner's repertoire; the Lua Lua Band pay tribute to Miguel Ríos, the father of Spanish rock. Two sets built from songs an entire generation knows by heart.

Why now

World Tourism Day falls on 27 September, and Teguise council has chosen to mark it with something not aimed solely at people on holiday. Mayor Olivia Duque speaks of bringing public spaces to life; tourism councillor Rita Hernández makes the same point: a destination where residents and visitors share the same space rather than living in two separate worlds.

That is the difference between hotel entertainment and town life, and on this coast it shows.
