Saborea Lanzarote moves from November to March, and the Cabildo says why: the electoral calendar

The Cabildo has changed the dates of Saborea Lanzarote 2027. The fair, due to be held in late November in La Villa de Teguise, will instead take place from 19 to 21 March.

The reason, stated plainly

President Oswaldo Betancort puts it down to the electoral calendar, which was shaping the original plans. 'We consider it necessary to move this event to March,' he says: it is 'the most responsible option right now'.

The underlying argument is organisational rather than presentational: Saborea is a big event, with thousands of people at every edition, and it needs long planning. Moving it, the institution says, is about giving full guarantees to the sector and leaving local producers time to prepare.

What changes in practice

For exhibitors and producers, four extra months are not a detail: it means planning harvests, production and stock against a different horizon.

And for visitors the change has a side effect that is far from small: an open-air food fair in March, in La Villa, is a different proposition from late November — longer days, and the risk of rain shifting to the right side of the ledger.
