Asador Volcán de la Corona: the grill at Ye, below the volcano

In Ye, the last village before the Mirador del Río, there is a grill house that stands out for a simple reason: the Volcán de la Corona is right in front of it. The Grill-Asador Volcán de la Corona is at Calle Malpaís 8, in the municipality of Haría, and it does one thing seriously: cooking over embers.

In this kitchen the grill is not an addition, it is the method. The meats go over it, and they remain the main chapter of the menu, alongside lighter dishes such as carpaccio and rulo. The ingredients are declared zero-kilometre, which in northern Lanzarote means whatever is around: not a slogan, a geography.

At the grill is José Páez, who also owns the place; in the kitchen, Omayra Perdomo. Behind them are more than twenty years in the trade and a team of seven, which for a village restaurant is not a small thing.

Calle Malpaís 8, 35541 Ye (Haría). Open Mondays from 12pm to 5pm and Wednesday to Sunday from 12pm to 11pm; closed on Tuesdays. If you are coming from the south, allow for the climb towards Haría: a good half hour from Arrecife, and the road is part of the outing.
