A free psychologist, lawyer and social worker, answering within two days: the service nobody knows about

If on this island you need to talk to somebody — a psychologist, a lawyer, a social worker — and cannot pay for it, there is a place where you do not have to. It is called Lánzate 365, it covers Lanzarote and La Graciosa, and it is free.

What it does, in numbers

This year's figures say more than any description:

  • 38 people received psychological support;
  • 37, social support;
  • 13 were accompanied through gender transition processes;
  • 9 had legal advice.

The average response time is forty-eight hours. On an island where a public appointment takes a great deal longer, two days is news.

How it works

There is no single counter with a single answer: it starts with an assessment of the case, and from there they decide what kind of help is needed. The support is biopsychosocial — it looks at health, mind and practical life together: the paperwork, the housing, the job.

The people running it put it this way: «We take each situation individually. Nobody is left without guidance».

Who uses it

The widest band is adults between 31 and 64, which is the least expected figure: this is not a service only for the young. Plenty of young people do come for a confidential consultation, though.

Who pays for it

The service is funded through the social IRPF — the box you tick on your tax return. In 2026 it is joined by DiverCan, a second information and advice service funded by the Canaries.

It is exactly the kind of thing that exists, works, and nobody knows about. If you know somebody who needs it, the name to remember is Lánzate.
